I am Joany, perhaps better known as Joan. I live in a town in the far north of Netherlands, near the sea. I’ve always enjoyed drawing, but only started pursuing it actively as a teenager, when I met most of the people I now share this art collective with. It’s been a long journey since then, with ups and downs. And although I gave up pursuing a carrier in the arts long ago, here I am now!
Lately I’ve been focussing my work on character design and concept art to accommodate a personal project, a story I’ve been chipping away at for around five years now. This has taught me a great deal about anatomy, how to properly design clothes and the effects colours can have to show personality. I am in no way very good at it yet, and there’s a long way to go before I’ll be anywhere near satisfied with my work. But art is a fun journey, and even more fun when you can share it together.
The artists of the Gouden Stronk have always been a great source of inspiration for me. They challenged me with new ideas, pushed me to improve my work and were always ready to help me when I got stuck with one thing or another. I hope I can continue to improve in the coming years, practice doing the things I struggle with and work hard to overcome the challenges art brings!
I am always open for questions about art, what programs I use, or the way I work. Don’t be shy to shoot me an email!
